A place to call home, where care matters
At Drymmau Hall we are family-run. But it takes more than a description, bricks and mortar, and an acknowledged track record of leadership and clinical excellence, which sit at our core, to make a family-run care home. As in the best of all homes, where everyone thrives and grows, we have comfort and compassion as part of our DNA, with integrity and honour deep-rooted in the care we provide. Above all, we know it’s the care that matters and makes the difference.
An overarching approach to care – always clinically led
Our multi-disciplined team employs a “joined up” approach to the care of those we look after at Drymmau Hall. Following detailed individual assessments prior to admission, individuals continue to be assessed on their specific needs. We ensure that care plans and approaches are constantly reviewed, monitored, updated and documented as appropriate.
We have a commendable and long-standing clinical team and management structure which have a combined service of over twenty-nine years. Together, the whole team is equipped to constantly deliver support and oversight, and collectively provide astute and responsive clinical care, underpinned by access to external health professionals. This ‘joined up’ approach, with a qualified nurse in charge twenty-four hours a day, guiding the pathway, means that we can provide care and develop care plans that involve decision making from the people we are caring for, their families, advocates, and other external professionals.
Tending the whole person – improving quality of life
At Drymmau Hall, we believe that those in our care should live their best lives. We tend the whole person, making sure everyone has access to the best we can provide. This includes specific treatments and interventions from the primary external health and medical professionals, including GP, Dentist, Acute Clinical Team, Speech & Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Ophthalmology and more.
Our focus on nutrition is a cornerstone of our ethos, with personal requests made available and favourite meals catered for. Our use of key quality suppliers currently includes: Howells Butcher, Castell Howell Foods, and Dole Fresh Foods along with our freshly grown seasonal produce being fundamental to our ‘you are what you eat’ menus from our 5* kitchen. In this way we can ensure people’s quality of life is optimised and they have every possible opportunity to live well. Preparation is key, and our commercial kitchen is well equipped to cater for all dietary needs from the typical everyday favourites to specific pureed meals led by an expert team who understands key areas such as fortification and dietary conditions.
Quality care products and medical equipment are kept and maintained to a rigorous degree, with all bedrooms having, as standard, full profiling beds and hybrid pressure-relieving mattresses, with higher risk level equipment ready in preparation to best maintain quality of life.
Fostering freedom – positive dispositions and happy natures throughout the life journey
Over the years, we have fostered freedom and personal independence at Drymmau Hall. We know that when those we look after have autonomy over the decisions they make, they are more likely to benefit from a more positive outlook on life and feel happier. We try to be as non-restrictive a care home as possible, setting no prescribed visiting times for friends and family, and giving people the freedom to move around as they wish. Whether it be enjoying a familiar walk or view, a chat over a drink in the local pub, or a stimulating educational talk, personal aspirations can be fulfilled and true self-actualisation realised.
The reality for people that live in a Home setting such as Drymmau Hall may naturally result in a decline that limits a person’s ability to live the fulfilled life they once had. By recognising this, and acting upon such changes, means that we are very well equipped to amplify the focus on the fundamentals at the latter stages of the life journey. We ensure the end of life pathway is grounded in dignity and compassion, with palliative care appropriately and properly managed from a place of true caring, meaning people are able to pass peacefully and cultivate a sense of closure, but are not forgotten after they are gone.
